GRAD provided a Certified Course on Policy & Institutional Analyses in partnership with Afghanistan Public Policy Research Organization (APPRO) and Ruhr-Universität Bochum of Germany On Jan 3, 4, 5, 10, 11, 12, 2019 in Kabul.

The course was designed for professionals from Afghan civil society organizations and public institutions and was delivered by Dr. Saeed Parto, Academic Director for GRAD and Research Director at Afghanistan Public Policy Research Organization (APPRO).

The cross-accredited value of this course is 4 ECTS (European Credits Transfer Scale).
Course contents are designed for students and practitioners interested in the dynamics of decision making at different scales of organization in volatile contexts. The course introduces the participants to the fundamentals of policy and institutional analysis, emphasizing the importance of context specificity. The participants gained an in-depth appreciation of different methods, theories, and practical tools to deconstruct complex policy choice problems in different settings and to identify and evaluate viable policy alternatives to support and protect fundamental rights, such as the right to food, shelter, clean water and other basic services in Afghanistan.

The course had 38 participants, of which, 30 of them were men and 8 of them were women. Participants from the Afghan Civil Society, the Afghan Government, and International Development Organizations attended this course.
